AbAlarm

A virtual alarm clock is always useful for remembering anything, from important events to something left in the oven. This is the purpose that AbAlarm serves. Besides its alarm and countdown functions, the application's modern and elegant design is another key feature. It allows you to prepare one or more timers in a comfortable manner and it can also perform a series of actions when a timer expires.

AbAlarm is offered free of charge, but you can make a donation if you want an additional feature. It can be installed in a few moments, on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 or Win 8. The application provides support for both 32 and 64-bit operating systems and it doesn't have any special requirements.

The user interface has a clean and efficient layout, so you don't have to spend any time studying its options. It displays the current system time in a countdown timer, where you can specify a number of hours, minutes and seconds and click a button to start the countdown. You can name the timer and set up a few automatic actions on the same window. The application can be set to display a text message, play a sound, launch a file or program, open a website and shut down the computer. A circular progress bar is displayed around the timer, that will be emptied as the time runs out.

The countdown timer can be replaced with an alarm clock, just by clicking a button. The alarm clock looks exactly the same, but instead of inserting a number of hours, minutes or seconds, you have to specify a time of the day and select a date. Also, you can set up the same automatic actions for the alarm clock.

While a timer is running, you can create new ones and run them in parallel. Active countdowns and alarms are displayed on separate panels, which can be displayed by clicking their corresponding tabs, on the left edge of the interface. The application comes with a few predefined countdown timers, for tea and pizza, and you can add your own timers to the list.
